Find Red-Hot Buyers For Your Affiliate Products
So, you found a product you want to promote and you signed up for their affiliate program. You picked the marketing materials you’re going to use to promote that product and now, you’re all pumped and ready to go.
Finding the right products to promote is only a small piece of your affiliate marketing plan. Now comes the real challenge; finding buyers for the products and services you are selling. Something you should keep in mind is this; if there are buyers, there are always products to sell them.
Generally speaking, there are two really great types of buyers. These people will make a purchase no matter what the current state of the economy is.
The first group is known as the “desperate” buyer. These are people that have a problem and are looking for an immediate solution. They might be facing a financial crisis such as foreclosure on their home or they might be in some type of emotional or physical pain. In both of those cases, they want a quick solution and they’ll be searching for one with credit card in hand.
The second group of buyers is known as the “passionate” or “rabid” buyer. I’ll bet you know some people like that. You might even be one yourself.
This is the type of person who will buy just about anything and everything on a certain topic. It could be golf or food and cooking or dogs or weight loss and on and on. This type of buyer might also purchase anything new from a certain manufacturer. Remember the Beanie Babies?
When you find a group of people who all have a common interest, it is called a niche. However, not all niches have buyers. The niches with buyers is called a niche market. Now, we don’t just want a niche market, what we want is a niche market filled with red-hot buyers.
Now that we know what we’re looking for, where are we going to find these red-hot buyers? There are many places to search but first, you should keep your eyes and ears open. What are some of the things that your relatives and friends simply can’t live without? What are the popular personalities such as Oprah talking about?
One of the absolute best ways to find hot buyers is to look at what the hot sellers are. By using this method, you will actually kill two birds with one stone. You will not only find hot markets but you’ll also find the products that are popular with the buyers.
For example, nearly all marketplaces such as eBay, Amazon, ClickBank and the like, will also have a list of hot products.
- With eBay, there is eBay Pulse – http://pulse.ebay.com/
With Amazon, there is – http://amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/books/ A useful rule-of-thumb is if a particular book is ranked 20,000 or higher.
When checking on a particular niche – see if there’s a magazine on the topic – http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/magazines/ref=sv_mag_2
Amazon Bestsellers in a variety of products: http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/
The Electronic Marketplace, Clickbank:

Let’s say I’m looking for a product with hot buyers. If we look under the “Health & Fitness Category” with the subcategory “Diet” at ClickBank, we see products which are listed in Clickbank’s definition of “most popular”. Currently, the top two products are “Fat Loss For Idiots” and “Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle”.
Now you should have a better understanding of how to find a product but more importantly, where to find the buyers. The ideas I listed are just a few ways of finding products and buyers and I hope this points you in the right direction. What are some of the methods you use to find products or buyers?

I have affiliates through CJ posted in my sidebar that is about the extent of my marketing.
Hi Ms. Freeman,
Nothing wrong with that. CJ (Commission Junction) is an excellent affiliate network. Unlike ClickBank, that only offers only digital products, Commission Junction offers a broad range of products that affiliates can promote. They also offer very good training particularly in the area of PPC (pay-per-click) and SEO (search engine optimization). If you find products related to your niche, that’s a good place to start. I would also take a look at their training.

Hi lawmacs,
Affiliate marketing is not for everyone. It’s also possible that the products or services you were promoting weren’t the correct ones for you or you didn’t have the tools to properly promote them. It’s also possible that you didn’t give it enough time. In any case, to have any success in this business, it takes loads of hard work, persistence and patience.
Maybe you’ll give it another try if the right opportunity comes along.
As always, I do appreciate your visit and your comments.

Very informative posts Robert. I myself use these methods you have suggested and occasionally I will also use Google’s product search to see what’s hot. In essence apart form the fantastic sources you have mentioned above, almost all major “online shopping” websites have their best sellers and are all good to find products too. What I also do sometimes is compare between all those sites the products and pick those that appear on every one of them

Hello DiTesco,
You didn’t let me down this time. I knew you would have some additional strategy.
That is more good advice for finding hot products.
You also got me thinking about another great resource that many people don’t know about and that is: Paypal Shops. They have merchants selling products in almost every category and you are able to see how many verified Paypal users purchased products from each merchant. This should take you there: https://www.paypal.com/au/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_shop-ext
Thanks once again for your great comments.
