Creating Multiple Streams Of Income
I’m sure many of you have heard the phrase “multiple income streams” but what does it mean? Many business people create multiple income streams both offline and online as a way to make themselves and their businesses more secure. Today’s business people feel that having multiple streams of income can possibly save them from the “famine-effect’ of the industry.
If you choose to involve yourself as an affiliate marketer, it is recommended that you have multiple income streams. In the event that one of your income streams stops producing, you can still produce income from one of your other streams. If you ask any successful online marketer, you will find that they all have established multiple streams of income.
One of the first steps to take when creating multiple streams of income is to evaluate your resources and start by doing an assessment of yourself. Write down the answers to the following questions:
- What strengths do I possess?
What are my talents and abilities?
Do I have good writing and creative skills?
Am I good at selling?
Do I have good communication skills?
Do I have artistic or unique skills that others don’t have?
The answers to those questions will help determine the types of business you may excel in.
The next step is to take an inventory of the physical resources you may have. Items such as a computer, printer, DVD burner, digital camera and cell phone can all be used as resources. How about your friends and family? Do they have resources that you have access to? There is nothing wrong with using the resources, talents and abilities of everyone you know. Remember the saying; “No man is an island”.
Those are the steps you should consider when trying to create additional income streams. If you are currently a web site owner or webmaster, you certainly have an advantage. If you haven’t done so already, why not join an affiliate program to make some additional income from your web site/blog.
Becoming an affiliate marketer is a very desirable way to create multiple income streams. The reason for that is; there are so many various affiliate programs, products and services to market. Most programs are easy to get started with and you can begin earning some money as soon as you sign up. As an affiliate marketer, you earn commissions by promoting and selling the products and services you are affiliated with. Another advantage to being an affiliate marketer is the fact that in most cases, you are provided with various marketing materials and some excellent training. As an affiliate marketer, you can rest assured that there is always an abundant number of products to sell and income to make.
You have the choice of how many hours you want to work as an affiliate marketer. This gives you the option to chose how many products you want to promote and how many income streams you want to build. As an affiliate, you can earn commissions without investing any money, owning a product or dealing with inventory or customer related issues. Your primary function is the promotion of the products and services and driving traffic to the merchant’s site.
As an affiliate marketer, you should promote more than one related product on your site so you can give your visitors a variety of options to chose from. By doing so, you will have created multiple streams of affiliate income. There is nothing wrong with using this strategy and it’s a way to protect your business and expand your horizons. In the event one of your merchants closes their affiliate program you will always have another to fall back on.
Be sure to choose only those affiliate programs that you have an interest in so you can be most effective with your advertising and promotions. Don’t be tempted to sign up for programs you know nothing about. Always go with products and services that you are enthusiastic and passionate about so you can gain your visitors interest and direct them to your affiliate links.
It does take hard work to make a good income and just like any other business, you need to be persistent, patient and try to learn all you can. The old saying “don’t put all your eggs in one basket’ is very true as it relates to building your multiple streams of income.
Do you currently have or are you in the process of building your multiple streams of income?

Good article have found it difficult to properly market yourself and get free traffic to promote your blog or website. This is very difficult and where most marketers fail.
Hello Kirk,
Yes, you are right about that. I have found that many people give up to easy. Like any business, it takes time to be successful.
I do appreciate your visit and leaving a comment.
Hi Robert,
It is a good article, because if you really want to achieve financial freedom and live the life of your dreams you need multiple streams of income.
I agree with you that affiliate marketing is the way to go if you want to have more streams of income, it is one of the easiest and fastest ways to make money on the Internet.
The point is that you have to know what to do and how to do it because if you don’t have a step-by-step guide it is hard.
On the other hand, promoting more than one related product could work out only if you have experience and know what you are doing…
For people starting out I don’t recommend promoting more than one product in the beginning, because it could create a great confusion and the results will be really poor.
It is better to start with only one product and then as you get experience and see some good results you start gradually adding more products.
Thanks,
^PV Reymond
Hello PV Reymond,
You made an excellent point and one I failed to mention. When first starting out as an affiliate marketer, it is best to put your effort into promoting one product or service until you feel comfortable enough or experience a little success.
I do want to welcome you and hope that you’ll be a regular visitor. Thanks for the excellent comments.
I have several stream of income, a offline business, a blog and a job, but combined they still never seem to be enough.

Ms. Freeman´s last blog ..What’s In Your Blogging Environment?
Hi Ms. Freeman,
Yep, it seems like no matter what we have and how hard we work at it, it’s never enough. Not surprising though with the current state of the economy.
As always, great hearing from you again.
Agree! We cannot too focus on one thing while there a lot of opportunities that we could do. However it’s important too to choose the most profitable method of earning cash online =)

Hello MonsterBuzz,
In addition to choosing profitable methods, it’s also just as important that we choose those that we are enthusiastic about. Potential customers can usually sense your passion for the products and services you’re promoting.
Nice to see you again and your comments are always appreciated.
OK, I will have to start by saying that the image of that “cash cow” is absolutely awesome. Come to think of it, they do have multiple streams, haha. That’s great.
As with having multiple income streams, it is basically like you said “don’t put your eggs” in the same basket. The more sources of income you have all the better. This way, if one performs less, you will not be affected in total as there is “insurance” from other sources. Thumbs up
Hello DiTesco,
I’m delighted that you like the cow
I thought it was so appropriate for this topic.
You put it in another term that is perfectly fitting for having multiple income streams…”insurance”. It’s reassuring to know that when something isn’t performing, we have other options available.
Great to see you again and I do appreciate your comments.
Hi Robert, an interesting post and lots of valuable information. I first heared the phrase “multiple streams of income” mentioned by Marlon Brandon about three years ago. SInce then I’ve been able to create several streams which are still currently generating profits. It’s tru what you say about not putting all your eggs in one basket. Some of my streams did stop earning but luckily I still had others which continued generating whilst new projects were established. Great post!
Hello John,
Welcome and glad you liked the post but more importantly, you confirmed the reason for having multiple income streams. Great that you are able to generate income from your resources and I wish you much continued success.
Thanks for visiting and posting your comments. I do hope to see you more often.
Very Good And Detailed Article Robert, Very helpful to me.

Hi panduan,
Thanks for visiting and leaving your comment. I do hope we see you more often. I will check out your blog and let you know what I think as soon as I can.
Hi Bob, nice site you have. I recently read some advice on making a (fortune) blogging and it involves having multiple blogs. Made sense, so I started a second. But the fact remains that without new and targeted traffic, I can write content until the cows come home and not make a dime. I had google adsense installed and they yanked it after two weeks citing “irregularities” in my page clicks compared to my page impressions. In your opinion, would an outside vendor, say the size of HOME DEPOT be interested in placing adds on a blogsite that has great content in relationship to it’s products but has small to moderate traffic? How would you recommend finding vendors to advertise on a blog? Ray.
Hello Ray,
Yes, there are people who make a living via Adsense and blogs. It takes a lot more than a couple of blogs however. There are people who have 50 or 100 blogs and know who to drive traffic to them. On the other hand, there are some very popular blogs that get tons of traffic on only one blog and do very well with Adsense. It really comes down to having loads of traffic and giving visitors what they are seeking.
For a blog like yours, I would suggest you go to Clickbank and become an affiliate. They have quite a few products that would be relevant to your content. I looked at a couple of your articles and I know Clickbank has products for quitting smoking and dating related products. The commission range on those products is generally 60-70% so there is a fair amont of money to be made. I also need to tell you that it doesn’t happen overnight. You need to really work hard at it and exercise patience but it can be rewarding.
I do appreciate your visit and hope to see you here often. By the way, thank you for the compliment.
