Success Tips For Affiliate Marketers
Affiliate marketing is extremely popular and growing faster than it ever has. People are looking for ways to supplement their income or perhaps even earn a living online. Many of these people are turning to affiliate marketing because it’s relatively easy to get started and there’s very little risk involved. Regardless of experience as an online marketer, just about anyone can earn commissions as an affiliate.
To be successful as an affiliate, there are certain things that should be done. I’ve listed several tips that should help you achieve your goals and start to earn some money.
Try to target a single market and find the products that appeal to that market. Don’t sign on to several different programs in multiple niche markets and promote them all at the same time. Take the necessary time to choose a specific niche for which you feel comfortable, knowledgeable and confident about the products or services.
I can’t stress this enough: research the programs for your chosen niche. You want the most reliable, successful and rewarding programs that are available. Make sure the merchants have the resources and tools available to assist you with your promotional efforts. You also want products that are high quality and reasonably priced. A little extra research will go a long way and make your marketing efforts a whole lot easier.
You’ll need to build a web site or blog that is relevant to your niche. Make sure your site contains unique, quality content that is rich in key words and phrases. If you need to start with free hosting, that’s okay but do try to get your own domain and hosting as soon as it’s feasible.
Obviously, your number one goal is to start earning some money. To achieve that objective, you must start driving traffic to your site. You can submit your site to the search engines, write articles and send them to the top article directories and send out press releases related to your market. It’s also a good idea to do link exchanges with well ranked sites that are relevant to your niche.
At some point, and it should be sooner than later, you’ll need to set a budget for promoting your site. As you start to earn some money, reinvest in your business.
It’s always a good idea to write reviews on the products and services you promote. When writing your reviews, don’t forget to list both the pros and cons. The best reviews are honest reviews and that comes from personal experience with the product or service. While you’re at it, don’t forget to include your affiliate link.
I’ll bet you’ve heard this more than a few times; “the money is in the list”. Building a list of subscribers will become your most valuable asset. You can start building a list by offering free e-books, software, e-courses, etc. You’ll be able to keep in touch with your subscribers and build a relationship. Once you build relationships and trust, you can start recommending your affiliate products to them. Don’t abuse your list by pounding them over the head with constant sales pitches.
No one expects you to be online 24/7 but you should answer any questions or concerns as quickly as possible. It’s a critical factor in building your relationships with your customers and potential customers. Always provide your name and email address on your web site or blog so you can be contacted easily. The best way to build credibility is by letting everyone know there is a real person behind the site who actually cares.
Sorry to burst your bubble but success doesn’t happen overnight. If you’re serious about making money, be prepared to work hard and be patient. Set some realistic goals for yourself and take the necessary actions to achieve those goals. Many people don’t make it in this business because they give up to soon. If you are patient and persistent, this can be a very rewarding venture.
As you gain more knowledge and experience and things start running smoothly, you’ll be able to start building your own network of sub-affiliates. You will be able to earn money on the sales that they make so you’ll want to motivate them. Remember, the more successful they become, you do also.
These few tips are things that will help in the long run. The amount of success you achieve is entirely up to you. As in any business, the more effort you put in, the more rewarding it becomes.
If you have any additional tips, advice or comments, please feel free to add them.
To your great success!

Hey Robert,
This article is very detailed, you touched very important points.
As you said, if you want to succeed in this business you have to pick a specific niche and then a specific product.
Many people fail because they try to promote many products at the same time and in many cases they are not related.
It is difficult to promote different products at the same time because you don’t have time for that unless you can hire someone to do it for you.
Pick a niche, then a product and as you start achieving good results start gradually adding more.
Thanks,
^PV Reymond
Hello PV,
Yes, it’s my feeling that it’s best to focus on one niche when first starting out. Many people jump into several markets right off the bat and their efforts become disjointed. That leads to frustration and ultimately they give up. It can also lead to that dreaded thing we all know as information overload.
For those just starting as affiliate, slow and steady is generally best.
Thanks for visiting and your comments are greatly appreciated.

One of the biggest reasons for the failure rate in online marketing is giving up to soon. Many of those people might have experienced some success if they exercised some patience.

Great post. You wrote a lot of useful tips that work. I did spend a lot of time but it is worth with the goal. One thing from your tips that I can’t follow easily is about research, I did a lot of time to research for the market but sometimes it failed. Maybe you can give me more suggestion on how to make a research. Thank you.

Hi Robert,
Found your site thanks to your visit in myblolog. Very nice. I’m going to add this to my communities.
These are all great tips for affiliate marketing. I’d like to add a few to your driving traffic section.
- Submit your site and individual articles to RSS directories
- Add a bookmarking link to your pages and invite your visitors to bookmark your article. Bookmarking is an area that is darned close to as important as link building. Just be careful not to be self promotional. I go into a lot more detail on content syndication and getting others to bookmark your content on my site.
- e-mail your list about your new article.
- Add your article to your newsletter autoresponder series
- Add a note on your Facebook page
There’s more is just a matter of being creative. Thanks again
James
