Never Give Up! – Turning Failure Into Success
Most of us have experienced some type of failure in our lives. It could be a failure in business, relationships, achieving goals or just about anything else. The key is to view these failures as temporary setbacks and use them as stepping stones towards success. Those failures can be used as teaching tools that let you know what works and what doesn’t.
Are you a person who views failure as a negative or do you see it as something positive? If you’re like the majority of people, you do not like failure. The main reason why a great majority of people around the world don’t change their circumstances is because they are afraid of failing. Why is it that so many people people have this fear of failing? The primary reason is they do not understand all the dynamics involved between failure and success.
There is a wrong way and right way to do just about anything we’re faced with in our lives. Obviously, when we do things the wrong way, we will not achieve success but when we do things the right way, we achieve the desired results. Once we have an understanding of this, it removes the fear surrounding it and puts failure in it’s proper perspective.
In most cases, when a person meets with a temporary failure, they tend to give up and start thinking that they aren’t good enough or they will never achieve success. Is this really what it’s all about? Just because you don’t make it the first time, does that mean you’re not good enough? Does it mean you should quit because you’ll never make it? Absolutely not! What it really means is; you haven’t found the right methods yet.
What do you think your next step should be? What you need to do is go back and see if you can find out where you went wrong or made a mistake. You may need to take a close look at everything you did up this point. Talk to some successful people who have accomplished what you’re trying to do. Think of anything you might have left out. Then you need to give it another try but this time you are going try a different approach or method.
No matter what you do, you should never give up. Why should you keep on going? I think Napoleon Hill, the great author and mentor answers that question best when he said: “Every failure, every adversity and every heartache, carries with it the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit. Failure contains the seed of victory and great success.”
When you examine the reasons that you failed and are able to learn from it, you’ll be able to find the key to your success. As I mentioned earlier, failure is a tool that teaches what works and what doesn’t. I think the great Thomas Edison probably knew this better than anyone. Did you know it took him about 8,000 tries to perfect the Edison battery? His famous quote came right after that when he said: “At least we know 8,000 things that don’t work.” ![]()
If you want to achieve success, you need to be like that. All successful people have overcome some temporary setbacks at one time or another. The only time you really fail is when you accept defeat. If you envy people who achieve success early and easily, stop doing that. A success that is earned in spite of some earlier failures is much greater than if you get it otherwise. The people who earn success by overcoming obstacles and setbacks know the road to success and they aren’t afraid to lose what they have because they know what it takes to become successful. The few who got success easily really don’t know how to get there.
Don’t let those temporary setbacks and obstacles keep you from achieving your goal. Most of us have some hidden talents so start working to achieve your dreams and desires. Don’t let the fear of failing stop you from getting what you want. Remember, failure is your ally and it contains the seed of your success.
Do you have a fear of failing? Have you overcome some temporary setbacks in your quest for success? Please feel free to share your experiences.

I agree, we should turn our failure into success. We just have a proper attitude and focus on our dreams.

Hey Robert,
Great point!
Some people when things don’t go the way they want start complaining and give up. Then they look for a new opportunity.
It is obvious that it is easier to look for a new opportunity that keep trying, the point is that when there is an opportunity there is an obstacle to overcome.
When you fail you have to look back and see what made you fail, most of the times the cause is a mistake you made… If you are able to identify what you did wrong then next time you are not going to make the same mistake and you will have more chances to succeed.
I want to share one of my favorite quotes about success and failure…
Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. – Thomas Edison
Thanks,
^PV Reymond
Hi PV,
Those are excellent points you made. The people who keep hopping around from one thing to the next never seem to give anything a fair chance and are usually first to say: “this don’t work” or “I give up” or “what a waste of time”…etc, etc.
Good ol’ Thomas Edison knew what he was talking about.
Great hearing from you again and your comments are very much appreciated.

Hi Robert, Excellent post! We’ve all had failure in our life time whether w/our businesses or family life, the trick is to realize what we did or where we went wrong. I think once we realize what or where our failure lies then personal growth can come from that and with personal growth comes success. jj

Hi Bob, this is an excellent post. Really inspiring. I don’t fear failure but I face one problem so often – Expecting too much and too good for myself. This is where I’ve been hit so hard but I am trying my best to cope up with it as I have to. Expectation do hurt. It is always better to keep away from it and keep moving ahead as life has much more to give

Maybe you should lower your expectations a bit so this way the disappointment will not be as great. When you set a goal, make sure it is realistic and achievable. As long as you learn from those experiences and are able to move on, you’re doing much better than many others.
Great to see you again and your comments are always appreciated. To your great success!

Frankly this is the plain truth. For me I don’t use the word failure. Instead I prefer ‘learning period.’ I’ve experienced a whole lot of them. My still pushing on today is because I’ve refused to give up.
Thanks for the motivation.

I think it’s great that you consider your setbacks as “learning periods”. You have the right idea and with that outlook, you should achieve success in everything you attempt.
Always a pleasure to provide a little motivation.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope to see you here often.

If first you don’t succeed, try ten thousand more times! It’s true that failures are the seeds of success. But it takes the right attitude. You can’t go around blaming others when you fail. You’ve got to be objective and figure what you’re doing wrong so that you will succeed the next time around.
That’s absolutely right. Even if you learn to overcome some obstacles or setbacks, having a positive attitude is a definite asset if you want to be successful.
It reminds me of this quote by Dr. Rob Gilbert; “Loser’s visualize the penalties of failure. Winners visualize the rewards of success.”

Hello lawmacs,
I can’t disagree with you on that point. I think the two words that should be eliminated from everyone’s vocabulary especially if you want success, are failure and impossible.
As always, it a pleasure hearing from you and I appreciate your comments.

I have to put in my two cents. I haven’t succeeded at very much in life. Oh I’m talented, smart, funny and even a good worker, but I guess because I don’t approve of so much of what I see, it seems I can never adapt to the world around me. And yet even if I wanted to adapt, I just couldn’t do it. Online is the one place where I think there is hope to finally achieve real life success. Of course with everything thing I’ve seen, I’m not convinced that our “leaders” won’t find some way to screw it up or worse exploit it. But we have to press on and keep believing in ourselves, our dreams and our endeavors; even to our dying breath!

I think you and many others find that the Internet is a place where a person can find success. I suppose it gives people a chance to express themselves freely and also offers unlimited opportunities to become successful.
You certainly have the right attitude by believing in yourself and your dreams. Both of those qualities are ingredients for success.
I do want to welcome you here and thank you for visiting and posting your comments. I wish you great success in all your future endeavors!

I view a failure as a temporary setback, and unfortunately a negative feat. Nevertheless, I have used these setbacks as my stepping stones towards learning and avoiding the reasons why I failed in the first place. Never give up and learning from your mistakes is part of life, and should be faced with encouragement and not a permanent disappointment.

Hi Robert,
Thanks for this article. It’s somehow a reminder, at least for me, that there can be success even after failure. In fact statistics say that today’s successful people went through 9 failures before succeeding the 10th time.
‘Luckily’ for me, it happened to me too. I had changed my WordPress template on my blog but something wasn’t working properly and it was killing me.
I had the idea of searching for help on Twitter and I got my answers. It turned out that many were facing the same problem with that WordPress template.
So, it seemed natural to write an article about it. That article still gets search engine traffic to this day. And it’s one of the top visited page on my blog.
It was a total nightmare before I got to the bottom of it. But I managed to turn a bad situation is a success. I still think I was lucky though
Take care,
Remi
