Affiliate Marketing Is Not A “Get Rich Quick” Business
Newbies, or anyone else for that matter, who are willing to give affiliate marketing the required effort and persistent determination, can realize a financially rewarding venture. This is not a complicated business that requires you to have a degree. The primary ingredients to becoming successful as an affiliate are hard work, focused dedication, patience and the ability to take action when necessary.
You should try to learn all you can so you can avoid the mistakes that others have made. There are literally thousands of excellent resources available and many of them are free. On the other hand, there are also tons of information out there that aren’t worth the paper they are printed on. You need to try and differentiate between the good and bad resources and one of the best ways to do that is by getting involved with some of the popular online marketing forums. You’ll find many experienced marketers in those forums who have used the training materials and know which ones are worthwhile.
There is a massive amount of affiliate programs available with nearly every product and service for you to promote. This makes it fairly easy to have an affiliate marketing business up and running in a very short time. You will have the opportunity to earn money and try your hand at some industries that aren’t available in the “offline world”. However, the key here is to try and find products and services that are not only high quality but high in demand. If you’re just starting out, it would be best to avoid the highly competitive markets such as “make money online”. ![]()
One of the most highly recommended affiliate programs is *ClickBank. It is easy to use and there are over 10,000 digital products to choose from. Utilizing good strategies, there is a lot of potential for good earnings through this program. However, one of the big drawbacks with ClickBank is the amount of competition you’ll be up against. For that reason, it would pay to search out other reputable affiliate programs and there are many that you can choose from.
*In the very near future, I’ll be posting a series of articles on how to go about choosing profitable products from the ClickBank marketplace.
One of the reasons many newbies to online affiliate marketing are unsuccessful or make very little income is the fact that they lack focus. Many of them will jump around from one strategy to another without mastering any. To achieve any level of success as an affiliate marketer, it takes some planning as well as focus. It’s always best to take one strategy and remain focused on it for a set period of time. If after the set time period it’s not showing any profitability, look for an alternative and spend time developing it. When you find something that works, look for ways to make it even better.
Unfortunately, there are many people who get caught up in all the “get rich quick” hype and give up when they don’t see the instant riches they were led to believe would occur. There is a lot of money to be made as an affiliate marketer but it will not happen overnight. If you’re looking for a “get rich quick business”, this is not it. If you’re willing to work hard, be persistent, take action and be patient, affiliate marketing can be very rewarding.
As always, your feedback and comments are welcome.

Spot on Robert. The reason why many people fail is because they don’t give a certain program all the efforts before jumping in the next one. My guess is that one of the main issues of Affiliate Marketing is “finding” the right program and master it first before moving on. It does not matter if it does not work in the beginning. Learning form our own mistakes is what makes the next choice more successful than the other. Great!

That’s exactly right DiTesco. If a person wants to realize success as an affiliate, choosing the right program is just as important as sticking with it and giving it a fair chance. To many people hop from one program to another and wonder why they aren’t making money. In this business, “patience is a virtue”
Always a pleasure hearing from you and I wish you much continued success. Guess I better head on over and see what that contest is all about.

Hello Arun,
Yes, experience is important and that will come with time and continuous learning. This is a business that changes frequently so it’s always good to keep abreast of the latest strategies and technologies. Obviously, without traffic, we have no business.
With regard to Amazon, they have an excellent affiliate program with loads of resources. The only negative is the commission rate is low so you need lots of sales to make any serious money. That brings us back to traffic again.
I appreciate your visit and comments and hope to see you here often.

Sometimes Robert I think that most people are just window shopping with Amazon. From over a 1000 clickthroughs to Amazon I have had 0 success I guess this takes not only lot’s of traffic but a very convincing Article to go with it so that reader will be sure to buy.

That doesn’t surprise me Roezer. In spite of them having an excellent affiliate program, it is extremely competitive because of the massive number of affiliates. After 1,000 clicks and no sales, I would seriously consider using that real estate for something different.

Hello,
I’m just starting out in affiliate marketing, & was hoping you could point me in the right direction – in terms of fist steps that someone like myself should take; where can I go for quality information to educate myself about this business? (Your article was very good, but I need something that will give me the basics about affiliate marketing. Also, since ClickBank is not the best due to competition, what are other good vendors of products that I can go to?
I know this isn’t a get rich quick thing, and I’m not going to treat it as such; I just want to take steps in the right direction to accomplish reasonable financial goals.
Than you. Regards,
~Ralph
Hi Ralph,
I commend you for having the right mindset going into this business and realizing it’s not a get rich quick program. I think the first thing you should do is choose a good niche. Research it well and be sure there’s a good market. If you need help finding a good niche, just search the net and you’ll find loads of free resources on how to choose a niche. You’ll also find tons of free training to learn about affiliate marketing. Of course you should search this blog first.
I wrote an article a while back on what I felt were the top rated and most reliable affiliate programs. You’ll find the post here: http://successaffiliatemarketing.com/blog/1200/5-very-reliable-and-credible-affiliate-networks/
I’m certain you’ll find what you’re looking for in those programs. In addition, several of those programs provide excellent training for affiliates.
Obviously I can’t provide all the info you need in a comment but I think this should point you in the right direction.
I appreciate your visit and your comment and hope to see you often.

I have been working online as a full-time affiliate marketer since 1999. It is a great business and I agree it is not “a get rich quick” business, but it is one that is well worth the effort.
I guess what I like most about it is the freedom that’s available once it is set-up, running well and is profitable. I love the fact that there is no customers because they are left to the merchant to take care of. A nice perk.
It’s also a great business for those who like to travel or live in places that are a little remote. All you need is a computer and an Internet connection and you’re set.
I have worked on my business from home, from 5 star hotels, on airplanes and cruise ships. You can’t beat it!

Hi James,
All the benefits you mentioned are the reasons why affiliate marketing is so attractive.
That’s the key to affiliate marketing success; getting everything set up and running like a well oiled machine. Once that’s done, we can really enjoy all those benefits. I’m not quite there yet as I’ve only been into affiliate marketing for about 2 years. I continue to learn all I can and work at it every day.
Thanks for the great comments and I wish you much continued success!
