affiliatemarketing1If you’re looking for ways to increase your affiliate sales, a most effective way to do that is by contacting the merchant. Not only is this a way to increase sales but you’ll also save yourself some time and frustration.

Nobody will know a product better than the merchant. They also know what methods and strategies the other affiliates are using to effectively market those products. By contacting the merchant, you not only demonstrate enthusiasm but you also show a sincere desire to succeed.

Most merchants have a good understanding of affiliate marketing and they are very much aware of the fact that most of the sales are generated by a small percentage of affiliates. Any reputable merchant will realize your efforts and want you to succeed. Generally, they will provide you with resources, information and in some cases, they might even increase your commission.

Communicating With The Merchant

Always try emailing a merchant at least two times. If you don’t get a response by the second email, you should seriously consider discontinuing the program. If a merchant does not respond after a couple of emails, that should indicate that they may have some problems. It may also indicate problems with receiving your hard earned commissions.

Keep in mind that there are some merchants that make big promises, and set a high payout rate knowing that very few affiliates will actually meet it. This isn’t a good way to do business, and you should avoid working with these types of merchants.

Always communicate in a professional tone when you contact a merchant. Let the merchant know exactly what methods you are using to promote their products and request suggestions on other ways to market their product or service. Be sure to make them aware of any suggestions you might have that will improve their offer. Most merchants really do appreciate new ideas that may help to better market their products.

You will find that merchants respect you because they are very aware of the fact that good affiliates are difficult to find. They will be more supportive and help with all available resources, as well as seeing that your payments are made on time. The same holds true for affiliates because they know merchants want quality sales and promotion.

Being professional and understanding with your merchants will help you get the most out of the partnership. Don’t assume that a merchant isn’t good if they don’t respond to you right away. The best merchants are always busy. It may take a little time but you will get a reply to your emails and questions.

Obviously, the longer you work with a merchant, the better you’ll get to know them and understand how they do things. If you are relatively new to affiliate marketing, the merchants can be a great resource for understanding how things work. You really can make a big difference to your success when you listen to the merchant and show some initiative.

Have you worked with your affiliate product merchants? If so, what has been your experience?
