If you’re one of those people who find the Internet business a little daunting and confusing, you might be asking yourself what kind of online business can I get involved in. Why not give affiliate marketing a try?
For those not familiar with affiliate marketing, it’s best described as a revenue sharing relationship between merchants/vendors and online publishers or affiliates. It’s a low cost way for merchants to sell their products and services and a low cost, low risk way for people to start a business on the Internet.
For the merchants in this business, the overhead is low because they only pay the affiliate when a sale is generated. Once the sale is confirmed, an agreed upon portion of the sale will be paid to the affiliate as a commission. In most cases the affiliate can be paid for referring clicks, leads or sales to the merchant’s web site. The agreed upon commission can be a fixed percentage or a dollar amount.
There are some affiliates that become experts in this field from this simple commission based referral system. There are some that earn more than 5 figures every month. However, based on the thousands of affiliate marketers out there, there are only about 2% that reach that level of success. Those who are fortunate enough to reach that level are generally referred to as “super affiliates”.

More than ever, people have the desire to venture out on their own and become their own boss. It all sounds great on the surface but there are two factors that need to be taken into consideration. The first is capital and second is the risk involved and neither one can be taken lightly. Today’s market requires a substantial investment even for a small business and the risk factor is even scarier. According to statistics, approximately 90% of small businesses will fail within one year.
To overcome those two factors, people are turning to affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing can be started with little or no capital and there really isn’t any risk involved. If you possess any sales or marketing ability, can motivate yourself and are willing to work hard, affiliate marketing might be right for you.

I’m sure many of you have heard the phrase “multiple income streams” but what does it mean? Many business people create multiple income streams both offline and online as a way to make themselves and their businesses more secure. Today’s business people feel that having multiple streams of income can possibly save them from the “famine-effect’ of the industry.
If you choose to involve yourself as an affiliate marketer, it is recommended that you have multiple income streams. In the event that one of your income streams stops producing, you can still produce income from one of your other streams. If you ask any successful online marketer, you will find that they all have established multiple streams of income.

Every once in a while, I get asked the following question: “what are some of the best ways to choose an affiliate program”? So, I thought it might be a good idea to list some tips that can be used as a guide when choosing an affiliate program. Here are some of the things you may want to consider when choosing your next affiliate program:
1. This is interesting
Always look for affiliate programs that you have an interest in. If you find a product or service that you wouldn’t hesitate to purchase for yourself, in most cases, it will be something you would want to promote. You’ll also be enthusiastic about the product or service and prospects can usually sense that. If you have an interest, chances are, there will be many others who will have a similar interest in the product.

The following post was written by one of my favorite marketers, Jessica Swanson – “The Shoestring Marketer”. This article covers a topic that is near and dear to me: building relationships. I found this article both informative and useful and I’m certain you will also. So, lets get right to it.
A radical change has occurred in the world of marketing. Just five short years ago, most companies utilized only traditional forms of advertising including: TV ads, radio ads, magazine ads, newspaper ads, etc.
As a result, most marketing consisted of advertising that interrupted whatever the consumer was doing. TV commercials are a perfect example of this advertising concept. As you watch your favorite Thursday night program, suddenly a commercial breaks onto the scene and interrupts you. Thus, the term “interruption marketing” was born!
