These days, just about everyone is looking for ways to earn a little extra money. Even a few extra dollars would be very welcome. It really isn’t that difficult to make a little extra income to help pay some bills. Many people have their own web site or blog and for those who don’t, there are ways to get one for free. However, it’s always better to purchase your own domain and hosting if possible. Some domain names can be purchased for as little as $2.00 per year and hosting for under $4.00 per month. For those who already have a site, there are several ways you can earn some extra money. The most common methods are placing ads on your site through Google’s Adsense program and/or by joining one of the many affiliate programs and promoting their products.

Regarding Google’s Adsense program, the idea here is to get as many people as possible to click on your ads and in turn, receive a payment for each click. Obviously, the more people that click on your ads, the more money you make. As an affiliate, you’ll also have the option of placing some advertising from products or services that you feel your readers will find interesting. If those ads are clicked on and a purchase is made via your link, you’ll receive payment in the form of a commission. Having your own site or blog is a great way to start earning a little extra income, however, don’t expect your bank account to explode overnight.

Once you get a little experience and see some results, you might want to consider setting up a second site and turn your endeavor into a money making venture. You’ll want to sign up for relevant affiliate programs and provide products and services that your visitors will have an interest in. If your site is about weight loss, you wouldn’t want to promote products to train your dog. Unless of course their’s a doggie diet program. If you promote products that aren’t relevant to your site’s content, your visitors will lose interest and you’ll lose any potential income.

After you get your site running, try to find affiliate programs that offer a good assortment of promotional tools such as banners, text links, articles, etc. Most of the good affiliate programs offer free training resources which can be a great help for new affiliates. You’ll also find that you’ll be able to track your stats so you can see how many people are clicking your ads and ultimately make a purchase. If you find that an ad isn’t working well, you should try another. Don’t make too many changes at one time. Do them one by one so you can see what works best.

It’s very easy to sign up for an affiliate program and it only takes a couple of minutes. Don’t be put off by some of the personal information they require including a social security number. Since they are the ones who will be paying you, it is a necessity. In most cases, you’ll get approved immediately. Once you’re approved, all you need to concentrate on is choosing the products you feel would be best to promote. Remember, only choose products that are relevant to your site’s content. Give your visitors what they are looking for and ways for them to solve a particular problem.

If you’re just trying to earn some extra money, it can be done with a little hard work and determination. Don’t expect it to happen overnight. If you keep at it and are willing to be patient, you will see results. Becoming an affiliate is a great way to supplement your income. Many successful people have started out this way and built very lucrative businesses.

Affiliate marketing has been around for quite some time and it’s now become a billion dollar industry. Many people are attracted to this business because of the ease in which to get started and minimum risk involved. Before you begin to promote your affiliate links and banners on your web site or blog, there are some things you should be aware of. First of all, this business is not for everyone. If you’re looking to make loads of money overnight or you have little patience, affiliate marketing is not for you. There are a couple of things that you must have to be successful as an affiliate marketer and those are; determination and patience. If you possess both of those qualities, there is no limit as to what you can accomplish in this business.

There are several ways affiliate marketing can be done. The most common ways are web sites, blogs, email and newsletters. As long as you promote to the right audience, any of those methods can work. Once you find the right audience and attract them with good content, you’re on your way to becoming successful. To make that work, you need to know where your readers go and what they look for. A good place to begin is; forums and message boards. However, you should exercise caution and patience and don’t come off as a know-it-all. It’s always best to take your time and generate interest in what you have to say. You can always add a link to your site in the signature line in most forums or message boards. More importantly, the forums and message boards must be related to your products or services. If your web site or blog is about dog training, you don’t want to participate in forums about weight loss.

Now that you found an appropriate forum or message board that is both busy and allows you to place a link to your site in the signature of your posts, you are well on your way. It’s always best to start off by making some posts and chat with other members. When a person posts a question that you are knowledgeable about, answer it. Answering questions is one of the most effective ways to generate interest in you and before you know it, they’ll be clicking on your link and visiting your site. This process is a little time consuming but the results in the long run can really pay off. You’ll also be gaining the trust of the other members and that is one of the greatest benefits

If you are determined to get the most out of your affiliate marketing efforts, another thing you’ll need to do is write articles. Articles that have good content about the niche you are promoting, is a great way to get the most from the programs that you promoting. Once you get your articles written, you’ll need to submit them to article directories and e-zines. Make sure that you lead the readers back to your site by including your link in the article. That is almost a sure fire way to get more traffic and ultimately, more sales. Make sure you submit variations of your articles to the directories. It’s best that you don’t submit the same articles that you have on your site. The reason for that is, you’ll will find that other web sites are using your articles. You’ll find that to be the case when you check your backlinks. This is a big benefit to you because in return, they will give you a link to your site. Keep in mind that they are relying on you to have different articles on your site than the ones you are submitting.

You can’t just build a web site or blog and expect results. To get results, affiliate marketing requires work. It is something that you must work on continually if you expect to see any income from it. Do everything you possibly can so that you get noticed. There are loads of free tools out there to help you, as well as, some very effective ones that you pay for. Utilize all the resources and tools that are available to help you get the most from your affiliate marketing.

Do you find yourself “starting” to create your own product to sell online, but never “finishing” it?

One of the things I love about affiliate marketing is –

** You don’t need to create your own products **

Many people find the idea of creating their own products to be an overwhelming and even paralyzing task.

* I don’t have any good ideas!
* I’m not a writer!
* There’s too much competition!
* I don’t know how to set everything up!
* I can’t figure out where to start!
* It’s too hard!

These are just a few of the valid reasons many people give when it comes to not creating their own products to sell. I’m sure with a few minutes of brainstorming, we could come up with a list of many more.

With affiliate marketing, you don’t need your own products. You simply promote someone else’s already proven successful offer for a commission.

And, truth be told, even if you ARE a writer and you DO have lots of ideas and you CAN figure it all out…

As good as you may be, you don’t know everything! Why try to create a product on every topic imaginable in your market when you can earn just as much money by simply promoting someone else’s really good offer as one of your profit streams?

It all starts when some well-meaning (yet misdirected) person encourages a budding internet entrepreneur to “start in a niche they know alot about”, or base their business around “something they’re passionate about”…

As horrible as it may sound – they’ve unknowingly sent the hopeful entrepreneur down a path of false expectations, poor results and eventually – failure. In fact, the myth of “do what you love and the money will follow” has been responsible for more failure than likely any other influence – perhaps even more so than laziness or a lack of perseverance.

Because the simple truth of the matter is that the only way you’re going to make real money on the net is if your business is based around two crucial things:

1) Large Demand

2) Buyers

In other words – you aren’t going to get rich selling a $15 ebook about growing square watermelons – even though that might be a great passion of yours.

The demand just isn’t there. Maybe there’s a few searches a day on Google for the topic, and perhaps there’s some interest in the online “gardening enthusiast” communities – but you’d be hard-pressed to make even a few hundred dollars a month from ebook sales.

Similarly, you also aren’t going to have a particularly easy time getting rich by building websites about some seemingly “popular” topics like humor, jokes, funny pictures and so on. And while there are a few ways to “monetize” your site (with AdSense, CPA Offers, CPM Banners, etc.), it takes literally millions of website visitors to make even just a few thousand dollars in markets like that.

The demand is huge – but the visitor value is extremely low…

Instead, if you want to make it big online – pulling down an impressive six-figure income – you need to tap into markets with tons of demand, where the majority of the visitors are valuable.

You need to capture tons of traffic that wants to buy something. If you take this approach, you’d practically have to hijack your own order links (or affiliate links) not to make a sizeable income.

In fact – did you know that some affiliates make several thousand dollars daily just by promoting a single product in hot markets? (Just imagine what the merchant is making…)

In some markets there’s actually so much demand that the vendors are quite literally selling over a thousand units – or more – per day. Digital products, with practically zero overhead/delivery cost.

But it all comes back to tapping into valuable demand. In most cases, it takes no extra effort or “skill” to market to a valuable market than it does to struggle along with something you’re passionate about.

These two factors – demand and buying traffic – are what seperate the “wannabe” marketers from the millionaires. Because there’s no real secret – you just need to sell what thousands of people are already buying.

The ball is now officially in your court. Are you tapping into markets with massive, valuable demand?

Or are you struggling to simply make a few dollars occasionally with a business that’s based on your own passionate interests?

There’s a lot of money in affiliate marketing. This is true, however, only to those who are dedicated to working on their affiliate program. Success in affiliate marketing varies in every individual affiliate and for the most part, it depends on his will and perseverance. No matter how good an affiliate program is, it will not prosper if the affiliate marketer does not pay the price of hard work. One must exert extra effort especially on the aspect of promotion. Nothing will happen if the links or banners would just lie idle in a web page. An affiliate must be able to convince the visitor to click it and proceed to the business site to buy the products. No click-throughs means no income for an affiliate marketer.

You can actually generate a full-time income by means of affiliate marketing and you can do it at home, and yes, even while you sleep. You must have a good web site to begin with. It must have good promotional and informative content, pleasing design, inviting banner ads and all other important elements in an affiliate marketer’s web site. It would be great if you have exhausted other means of advertising such as newsletters, email marketing, message boards and ad listings such as Google AdWords. It can be this easy if you have planned your affiliate program well and have taken all the steps towards success carefully and diligently. There’s a tool you can use to help you go through the program with ease and confidence, the “ad tracker”. For many experienced and successful affiliate marketers, the ad tracker is a key to a successful affiliate marketing program.

What precisely is an ad tracker? It is a marketing tracking software or program that allows you to trace and take note of every click-through made by visitors of your site and by other customers who got your referral link. There are many ad tracking service providers both free and paid. To check some of them out, do a search on Google for ad trackers or free ad trackers. With the ad tracker, you can keep an eye on the progress of your marketing campaigns even offline. This tool or program is especially helpful if you are engaged in several affiliate and pay-per-click programs and have placed ads in emails, pop-ups and pop-unders, message boards, auto responders, Ezines, forums, several web sites, surveys and various ad service providers.

Of course, you don’t want all your efforts to be wasted. You want to make sure you are getting paid for your hard work. Likewise, you want to make sure every dollar or cent you disburse in your advertising campaigns is wisely spent. With the help of an ad tracker, you will know accurately how many and which of your links where clicked on, how many of your emails were opened and how many of those who opened your email clicked through the business site and purchased a product, how many products were purchased, which of your banner ads or links brought the most leads and sales and many other pertinent facts and figures you need.

Sales records and all data stated are necessary in any business as this could determine if your affiliate program is worth continuing. This would also help you determine which of your marketing strategies is most effective and which is most beneficial for each product or service you are promoting.

Every decision and plan you make must be well grounded on facts. That decision or plan of action may not be the best, but it is something not to regret when you had valid reasons for coming up with such decision or plan. You can’t just decide to terminate your affiliate program, just because you didn’t earn megabucks overnight.

If you are serious with affiliate marketing, keep in mind that your success lies mainly on promotion and your hard work. If you don’t seem lucky enough to convince many of your site users to buy the products, don’t be discouraged and jump to a conclusion that your affiliate program is a failure. If it works for others, it could work for you, too. Know whether your advertising techniques are effective or not, which works best for your program and which doesn’t. Get an ad tracker to help you know all these and you’d surely be on the right track towards success!

Everybody’s been talking about Twitter. You can’t get through a newscast these days without someone mentioning Twitter or Tweets. Barack Obama tweets. But what exactly is this new social marketing tool, and how can you use it to grow your business?

Twitter is like a blog on a microscopic scale; instead of writing whole posts and your mailing list being notified when a new post goes up, a tweet (what a Twitter post is called) can only be a maximum of 140 characters, and the people who are following you get your whole tweet at once, instead of having to go to your website.

Twitter has now become huge. Companies like Apple, Intel, H&R Block and Zappos are all on Twitter. As mentioned above, so is the new President of the United States.

So how do you leverage this phenomenon? You need to get up and running on Twitter, asap. And you need to build your list of followers. While that may sound like something out of a bad science fiction movie, its actually just building a list of people that want to receive your tweets, much like you built your mailing list for your blog.

1) Import Your Contacts
When you sign up for Twitter, make sure you import all of your contacts from Gmail, Hotmail, your address book and your mailing list.

2) Write Your Profile
Make sure that your profile is complete to make it easier for people to find you, and use the same keywords in your profile that you do on your website. Always include a link to your website (including the “http” to ensure that it’s clickable) – you’re trying to build your business, after all. You can also personalize the colors and the sidebar of your profile page.

3) Understand How Twitter Works
Twitter is not another marketing tool that you can out and out manipulate; it is a social marketing tool that will only be useful to you is you actually become part of the community. It is not a place to spam, and don’t actively promote yourself.

Build a standing in the community by replying to other tweets (retweeting), share cool stuff, and build trust, then direct your followers to a blog post, filled with useful information, and only then use that post to get followers to take action. Trying to take people out of Twitter right away and into a sales pitch will get you labeled as a scammer.

4) Build Your Audience
To build your audience above and beyond your initial contact list, you’ll need to look both inside and outside Twitter.

Outside of Twitter, you can put a link to “Follow me on Twitter” in your email signature, forum signature, website, blog posts, and any other way that you communicate with people (where appropriate, of course – I don’t think the IRS wants to follow you on Twitter.)

Inside of Twitter, it’s all about following people. You can find other users that you admire, and see who is following them; you can also see who is following your friends; use Twitter directories to find members who are likely to follow you; use the search feature to find profiles of people you want to follow – and follow all of them. They will, in turn, follow you.

5) But Watch How Much You’re Following
While you’re building your following, you still need to maintain a balance between people you follow and people that follow you. Follow too many, and you’ll be seen as a spammer; don’t follow enough, and you look elitist. You can do this by growing slowly; don’t add 500 new friends in one day. Add 50 at a time and give them time to start following you so the balance is maintained.

You can also use a tool like “Friend or Follow” to balance out your lists; it will tell you who is following you that you’re not following yet, and vice-versa. It will also let you keep track of those who follow you, so you follow them and then they stop following you. They’re most likely spammers; don’t use this tactic or you’ll get the same reputation.

6) Be Someone Worth Following
Be witty, and post useful information. If you’ve got a niche, make sure that you’re talking to them. If you have news, tweet it. You can also use the tools on Twitter to take your blog posts and automatically tweet them.

You can tell people what you do; always be upfront with people. You just have to avoid the obvious sell, people can see that coming from a mile away. You can promote your business and celebrate your victories (XXX is happy to get the YYY account!), but don’t try to sell anyone anything.

7) Follow Wisely
And, in this sense, ‘follow’ has a broader meaning. Look to the experts in your category who are also on Twitter, and learn from them. Find 10 to 20 users you admire that have more than 300 followers, and try to learn how they did it. Take their ideas and make them your own.

Many people are trying to make money off Google Adwords but far to many of them are not succeeding. Most are failing because they’re trying to do it by themselves and there really is no need to. Not when AdwordsDigger exists.

ClickBank  has announced their new ClickBank HopAds Builder. It’s a powerful new way for affiliates to promote ClickBank products. The HopAds Builder allows affiliates who own web sites or blogs to easily create fully customizable ad boxes. This tool allows affiliates to customize both the look and content of ads to match their site.

The HopAds Builder is entirely free to use, and HopAds pay out the same affiliate commissions as Hoplinks created through the Marketplace. HopAds use ad text created by ClickBank publishers to appeal directly to consumers, and all ads are screened by ClickBank for content and quality.

This should prove to be an excellent tool for anyone who is currently promoting products offered on ClickBank. I just started using this resource myself and you can see what the tabbed ad version looks like near the top of the sidebar. I’ll be experimenting with various versions over the next few days.
